There has been much conjecture about the symbolic significance of the MMC logo, featured at the top right of this page.

It was designed to signify the Company's belief in the importance of people working together. The symbolic "two people holding hands" is a reference to the need for management, consultants, earth science specialists, governments, NGO's and the population to work closely together to responsibly exploit mineral resources to the benefit of all, now and in the future.

The "two people holding hands" is incorporated into a pattern of mining imagery, summing up impressions of:

w	Two head-gears with sheaves sitting over shafts.

w	A wedge cut used in tunelling.

w	A surface mine (symbolised by the "V" between the legs of the "M".

w	An underground mine; the shafts (the legs of the "M").

w	Different strata signified by the shading.
